Korah Kids Updates Website to Allow Sponsoring Children, Making Donations, & Taking Trips

Non-profit Korah Kids, which helps children and families living in a trash dump in Korah, Ethiopia, have updated their website with added features.

The Utah-based non-profit organization Korah Kids, which helps the residents of Korah in Ethiopia, have updated their website with more features. Korah is a literal trash dump where many people live, and Korah Kids provide them with sponsorships, money, food, and rent.

As of November 5th, 2018, their website has a new update that will allow those who wish to help to be able to sponsor families in Korah (as well as children), make donations, and even take a trip with the organization.

More than 80 years ago, the first leprosy hospital, ALERT Hospital, opened for business in Ethiopia after two doctors, one Dutch and the other American, approached King Haile Selassie to achieve this. However, the king only allowed them to do this far from any town, to keep those with leprosy away from everyone else.

Those who had leprosy were often believed to be cursed, and sometimes spurned or even killed by their families. They would walk for days and weeks to seek treatment. Eventually, these people started living near the hospital in the nearby trash dump.

However, the dump eventually became surrounded by a growing Addis Ababa, but remains in the same place and is now home to more than 200,000 men, women, and children. These socially isolated people rely on the dump for food, recyclables to sell, and so on.

It is the stated mission of Korah Kids to “improve the lives of the families and children in Korah, Ethiopia”, and they hope that their new website can help achieve that. They can also be found on both Facebook and Instagram.

Those who wish to help the children and families of Korah can do so through Korah Kids’ updated website where visitors can not only help in the aforementioned ways, but also contribute by participating in fundraising activities.

Soon, benevolent people around the world will be given the opportunity to become Korah Kids‘ ambassadors so they can share the wonderful work of Korah Kids with everyone they know and get more people to contribute.
