The upgraded freight quote form has been well received by customers.
Just Freight Services, a national transport brokering company specialising in the transportation of pallets and other bulky goods, has recently upgraded their system to better address customer needs. The streamlined online freight quote form form is designed to capture as much relevant information as possible, without burdening customers with irrelevant requests for information.

Matthew Roberts works in the sales and operations area for Just Freight Services, and was involved in the design and implementation of the upgraded Freight Quote form. We asked him a few questions regarding the form and how it was afffecting their transport services business.

Q. What was wrong with the the previous freight quote form, and how did this affect your business?

A. We’ve always been focussed on the needs of the customer, and our preference is to make it as easy a possible for them to do business with us. Hence, we designed our initial form to request the minimum amount of information upfront – just a few details, including a brief description of the goods, and we’d sort the remaining details out over the phone. While this worked very well for some customers, in a number of cases it turned out we were missing key information regarding for example the exact dimensions of the goods, or circumstances regarding the loading and unloading of the goods. What might seem obvious to one customer, could easily be overlooked by another. This resulted in a number of needless delays with deliveries.

Q. How is the upgraded form an improvement on the earlier one, and how have customers responded so far?

A. The new form asks for more information upfront. All the questions are on one page, so the customer knows before they start what we need to know up front. The reponse from our customers has been 100% positive. They understand that without this additional information, complications can and will arise. And having it all in writing from the beginning makes it simpler for everybody. It still takes only about one or two minutes to fill out the entire form, for an average delivery.

Q. What advice would you give to someone planning to move some bulky goods over a longer distance?

A. Pack your goods properly! Many customer don’t realise that on an interstate delivery, goods may neeed to be loaded and unloaded several times enroute, at trucking depots. Just use common sense, and pack the goods so that they won’t become damaged during transit.
