Women can see how they will look and feel in a bigger breast cup size with temporary breast augmentation. However, two experts whom we interviewed are concerned about possible complications from the procedure.

Dr. Norman Rowe, who is a plastic surgeon, expects to offer in 2016 an enhancement of his 24-hour-duration InstaBreast breast-enlargement procedure that would extend the enlargement to up to 3 weeks. Rowe dubs the results of the procedure the “vacation breast.” The injection is still in developmental stages, and the exact makeup hasn’t been determined.

Dr. Rick Rosen, who is a Connecticut plastic surgeon, says both procedures can lead to infection, nerve injury, bleeding, damage to the breast ducts, and damage to the ligaments and supporting tissues of the breast. He concedes that the same complications can occur as a result of conventional breast augmentation.

In response to the critics, Rowe says he believes that the temporary breast augmentation won’t pose any danger to the patient other than potential bruising. He says plastic surgeons have injected saline into the breast and other areas of the body for decades with no ill effects.

Rowe says the vacation-breast procedure would be performed similarly to the InstaBreast procedure. A needle would inject a fluid into the breast, where the material would be absorbed by the body and eventually excreted through urine. Rowe hasn’t set a cost for the procedure. He charges $2,500 for InstaBreast.
